It is a privilege to invite you to our 9th Kaunas / Lithuania International Hematology / Oncology Colloquium. Despite having a short history, the meeting has an astonishing record of highlights. Key opinion leaders have reported their latest insights in malignant hematology, stem cell plasticity, gene editing and cellular therapy. This year we tried to pick up again the newest and most relevant achievements in experimental and clinical hematology. We are extremely happy that leading scientists agree to share their insights and visions and are at disposition to exchange experience and answer open questions. Developments in drug discoveries and early clinical studies have led to new recommendations. Some of them are submitted or near to be submitted for publication and will be presented for the first time at the meeting. Latest news on stem cell transplantation including GvHD and CAR-T from T- and NK-cells and virus specific T-Cells will be additional highlights of the meeting. Finally, we are extremely happy that so many abstracts were submitted. We have selected the best one for a short presentation.
We hope that the colloquium will be useful to you as a physician across different disciplines, as a scientist, as a nurse and as a student. Even if the meeting is hybrid, you will have enough time to discuss on the edge topics with the presenters. Many thanks to the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno Klinikos and the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences for hosting such an outstanding forum.
Thank you for your participation.

In annual Kaunas / Lithuania International Hematology / Oncology Colloquium Programme cover design you can find famous Kaunas historical architecture buildings. This year we are presenting – The Historical Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania.
In 1918–1940 Lithuania was transformed from a province of the Russian Empire into equivalent European country. Kaunas, the former administrative centre of the province, became the temporary state capital. The former governor’s residence became the Presidential Palace. The owners of Neo-Baroque building, the construction of which was started in the middle of the 19th century in the territory of vegetable gardens of Jacobins’ monastery changed several times; however, the building has never lost its importance and exceptional role. All three presidents of the first Republic of Lithuania resided in this building: Antanas Smetona, Aleksandras Stulginskis and Kazys Grinius. At present you can see a representative garden with sculptures of all three interwar Presidents in front of the Palace from President Street (now Vilnius Street).
The walls of the Palace saw many joyful events (weddings, christening, New Year parties), dramatic and fateful events (a military takeover of the country in 1926, discussions of Poland, Germany and the Soviet Union’s ultimatums and the last session of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania on 15 June 1940) for the country.
